​Q: Who can join the Greece Democratic Committee?

A: Any registered Democrat living in the Town of Greece or Assembly District 134.

Q: What does it mean to join the committee?

A:  Our bylaws outline the duties and expectations of members as follows:

• GDC members, as members of the County committee, represent the interests of enrolled Democrats in an election district in the Town of Greece, and represent the Democratic Party within such an election district.
• GDC members, whether elected or appointed by MCDC to represent the interests of enrolled Democrats in an election district within the Town of Greece, are strongly encouraged to participate in the mission and activities of the GDC including but not limited to: participating in the affairs and activities of the GDC; assisting with the development of GDC’s programs and policies; and directly assisting with the implementation of the goals and objectives of the Democratic Party within the election district they represent.
• GDC members, as representatives of enrolled Democrats with the election district they represent, have the responsibility to develop relationships with their constituents, to help identify candidates, assist with fundraising, identify issues affecting constituents, and actively recruit candidates to vacant committee member positions.

Q: Is being a committee member an elected office?

A: Yes. Committee members are elected to two-year terms.

Q: How often does the committee meet?

A: monthly for about an hour

Q: Does it cost anything to join?

A: No, but we expect that you’ll support the committee with your time, talent or treasure.
